BLAIRE BARON Co-Artistic Director, Co-founder

Blaire Baron A 4th Generation Los Angeleno, Blaire Baron, began working here professionally at age 20 in television comedies. Desiring a theater background, she moved to New York at age 24 to study under the tutelage of Geraldine Page and Estelle Parsons, (The Actors Studio). In New York, she performed on Broadway at The Roundabout Theater, the renown Ensemble Studio Theater, Playwrights Horizons and The New School (NYU). Blaire returned to Los Angeles in 1992 and since, has appeared in over 50 films and television shows.

She has written and produced an upcoming documentary, WOMEN IN BOXES about magic assistants and produced the radio series, RAVENHURST for AIR AMERICA.

In 2005, Blaire was recruited by the education wing of the Los Angeles Shakespeare Festival and trained to work with “at risk” youth in all of the arts disciplines. Through her practicum work at Fringe Benefits Alliance, Blaire directed an original play at Wilson High School in East L.A. about hate crimes against gay youth. The play was based on stories from the students at the school and performed for the student body and the local community.

In addition to her work with the Los Angeles Drama Club, Blaire founded The Hero Program, a 24-week prevention education program for ages K-12, that she runs at the Larchmont Charter School. The children use the techniques of Spolin and Boal to learn about the consequences of choice. Blaire continues to work in the professional arena as an actor; this fall appearing in WITHOUT A TRACE, REBA and FLY BOYS.

Every Sunday at 9:30am you can find Blaire teaching Kundalini Yoga to youth (ages 7-15) at The Golden Bridge, at 6322 DeLongpre Ave. in Hollywood.

JULIA WALKER WYSON, Co-Artistic Director

Julia WysonJulia began acting in Chicago, where she performed with many of Chicago’s foremost theater companies, including Bailiwick Repertory, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Court Theater and Pegasus Players, and has worked in regional theaters across the country. Shakespearean roles include Juliet in Romeo & Juliet, Rosalind in As You Like It, Cordelia in King Lear, Lady Percy in the Henry IVs, The Queen in Richard II and Hermia in Midsummer Night’s Dream.

She received her BS in Theater from Northwestern University, and her MFA in Shakespeare from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Professional Actor Training program, and has studied at the Actors’ Center in Chicago and at the Laban Institute in New York.

Julia has worked extensively performing for and with children. She’s taught acting and movement workshops to children all over the country from inner-city Chicago, to rural Alabama and Illinois, to Pasadena and Glendale.

As a director and movement coach, she’s created shows for Chicago Actors Ensemble, Bailiwick Repertory, and MoMing Dance and Arts Center in Chicago, and Zoo District and the Northwestern U. Entertainment Alliance in Los Angeles.

SOPHIE HEYMAN-ULIANO Co-founder

Sophie Heyman-UlianoSophie brings her experience as a leading member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre, to our young players. Sophie taught Shakespeare workshops nationally in the U.K. She has also appeared in many West End productions and numerous television shows.

This past summer Sophie and co-founder, Blaire Baron Larsen brought the Los Angeles Drama Club to the Center for Early Education, where their workshop was wonderfully received by the children and the administrators.

Sophie is also a yoga teacher and a writer. She has recently completed her first non-fiction book about teaching women how to living with Sustainable Style.
